Located just an hour’s drive east of Perth is the picturesque Shire of Northam. A colourful patchwork of rolling hills is the perfect backdrop for round 3 of the Ring Criterium Series. Escape the city and breathe in the country air, why not make a weekend out of it and take in everything Northam has to offer.

The Course

RIDER GUIDE

COURSE OVERVIEW

A 1.4km flowing town centre circuit incorporating a long wide front straight that winds onto Fitzgerald Street and up on to the elevated section on the course. The circuit is mostly raced on a fast tarmac surface comprising of mainly left-hand turns. Fast average speeds per lap are expected.

1:30 PM- Men E Grade 20 min + 1 lap

1:55 PM- Women D Grade 20 min + 2 laps

1:55 PM- Womens C Grade 25 min + 2 laps

2:30 PM- Mens D Grade 25 min + 2 laps

3:00 PM- Little Critters 10 min

3:15 PM- Mens C Grade 30 min + 2 laps

3:20 PM- Presentations 1

3:55 PM- Womens B Grade 30 min + 2 laps

4:30 PM- Mens B Grade 35 min + 2 laps

5:10 PM- Womens A Grade 40 min + 2 laps

EVENT VILLAGE

Club marquees are to be set up along Minson Avenue near the Start/Finish line. Please check in with event staff so we can show you where to set up.

REGISTRATIONS

Registrations open from 11:30 AM at the Registration Tent on Minson Avenue.  Please be aware of the race schedule and ensure that you arrive at the Registration Desk no later than 20 minutes before your race starts to allow time to get to the start/finish line for the pre-race briefing. Please collect your race number and transponder at the Registration Desk, coloured caps will be handed out and collected at the start/finish line.

Juniors must roll out prior to signing in at the Registration Desk. The rollouts will be conducted next to the Registration Tent from 11:15 AM. Please refer to the Cycling Australia roll out calendar for further information. Juniors will be given a coloured sticker to place on their front fork on completion of rollout so no sticker, no registration.

HOW TO GET THERE AND PARKING

Northam is approximately 96km from Perth CBD.

Parking is available in the Car Park next to Bernard Park on Minson Avenue or the Aldi Car Park on the corner of Wellington St E and Beamish Avenue.

RACE NUMBERS

Each rider will receive a race number to keep, please collect these from the Registration Desk on arrival. Each round you will receive a new number to use.

RIDER LICENCES

We are enforcing a strict NO LICENSE NO RACE policy. Riders must show their Cycling Australia license or proof of purchase and ID at the Registration Desk where it will be held until after your race and your transponder is returned.

TRANSPONDERS

Transponders are to be collected at the Registration Desk. If you have hired a transponder, you must use this transponder as your $5 paid via Entry Boss will not be refunded if you decide to use another one and your name has been allocated against this transponder in our timing system. Damaged or lost transponders will incur a $50 fee which will be invoiced to you after the event.

REGISTERED KIT

Riders must be wearing either Registered Kit or neutral club kit. Commissaires will be policing this on the day.

FOOD AND DRINKS

Please bring your own water bottle and enough water for the day. Additional water will be available at the Registration Tent and can be purchased from the local shops.

RIDER ETIQUETTE

Riders will be expected to follow all the directions given by the officiating Commissaires and the Race Director, failure to do this could result in disqualification or an event fine.

Safety is the most important factor and we will be following all Cycling Australia guidelines and expectations placed on competing riders.

WARMING UP

Riders are allowed to warm up on the circuit from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM whilst road closures are in place and before racing commences. Prior to this, please choose surrounding streets to warm up on but be vigilant of local traffic. Warm up stationary trainers can be used under club marquees.

POINTS TABLE

Riders will also be awarded 1 point for starting and 1 for finishing.

TIMING AND RESULTS

Racing will be live on the My Laps SpeedHive App! When you open the app, search under ‘Cycling’, ‘Live Events’ and select Round 3 Northam Super Crit.

Race results will be uploaded onto the Facebook event page and website the following day.

WOMEN’S COACHING

Davina Summers and Shannon Miraglia will be riding alongside the Women’s C and D grade riders to offer advice and support during the race. Whether you’re just feeling nervous, want some racing tips or just want a chat, Davina and Shannon will be available to answer any questions you have! Don’t be afraid to ask.

PROTESTS AND DECISION MAKING

The Chief Commissaire has the final say on decisions during the race. Protests can be addressed to the Chief Commissaire no less than 15 minutes after the finish of your event.

PRESENTATIONS

Presentations will be held close to the Start/Finish line on Minson Avenue. Please assemble near the podium at least 5 minutes before presentations and ensure you are wearing either Registered kit or neutral club kit.

LEADER JERSEYS

We have amazing Pedal Mafia Leader Jerseys are up for grabs this Series! Each grade winner will receive a jersey, take a photo on the podium and then it’s up for the taking for the next round. Winners must race in their Leaders Jersey the following week or return it to event staff on the day so it can be awarded to next week’s winner. The overall winners of the Series will take home the jerseys to keep.

CYCLIQ FLY 6 + 12

Thanks to Cycliq we will be giving away a Fly 6 or 12 to two grade winners each round! This round, the winners of the Men’s B Grade and Men’s C Grade will be the lucky recipients.

DOME LITTLE CRITTERS

Little Critters is back this year thanks to the support of Dome Cafe Group! Children aged 11 and under ride one lap of the circuit for FREE! All types of bikes welcome but helmets must be worn. Registration is taken on the day at the Registration Tent in the Event Village. Little Critters get to take home a Dome gift bag, number plate to keep and a medal at the end of the lap!
