The Ring Summer Criterium Series heads to the popular Tech Park course this weekend for the second round of the series.
Aron Barclay was one of the big stories to come out of Round One with the Midland Cycle Club rider moving from B grade last season to finishing second in his first A grade race
He was part of a three-man breakaway with eventual winner Timothy Sellar and world tour rider Ben O’Connor. Young gun, Jai Hindley adds to the star power of A Grade at Tech Park.
Barclay won B grade last year at the Ring Summer Criterium Series and had a strong result in B grade in the Element Road Series as well, takin the overall win.
Spectators were excited to see Jessica Allen in action as the reigning Australian Criterium Champion.
She won in a sprint finish ahead of rising star Emily Mascaro.
Mascaro almost had Allen as she gained on her in the final meters of the sprint, but could not win the race.
The Veris Women’s Racing Team rider remains one of the favourites after finishing second last year and has a strong team behind her with the likes of Sabine Bird and co. Erin Nolan makes a return to racing at Round Two of the 2017/2018 Ring Series.
B grade men is again going to be another stacked grade.
With almost 60 riders signed up for last weekend’s race, it was easily the biggest grade and is shaping up to be the case again this weekend.
Martin Depiazzi won B grade men and will look at staying at the front of the pack again this weekend.
Both Danica and Emily Wiggins shape as two of the form women in women’s B and C grade respectively.
Both girls won their respective grades last weekend and their brother Craig was also mixing it up at the top of men’s A grade.
